Harvey Haviland Beach

Harvey was the fourth of the six children born to Milson and Lucy. He was born on 17 August 1873 and died on 31 January 1875 just 18 months of age.
New Zealand medical records report that the highest recorded infant mortality was in 1875 (about 125 deaths per 1,000 live births), which was the year “when the death rates for typhoid fever, bronchitis, broncho-pnemonia, and diarrhoea and enteritis all reached record heights, and many of the deaths were due to one or other of these diseases.”
