Hubert Charles Beach

Hubert Charles Beach was born in Southbridge, NZ on 11 May 1871. When his parents Milson and Lucy Beach and their children left NZ to live in Melbourne he was to stay in New Zealand. He is known to have been working for a short period in his fathers building business in Zeehan, Tasmania around 1895. He ultimately married a Maori, Parehuia (Polly) Whakairi in New Zealand around 1901. Polly died in May 1902 and their child Violet aged 9 months died in August 1902. He then married Polly's sister Henerietta Whakairi Matekino and on her death he married Haupai Hauraki. He had 2 children with Polly and 7 with Henerietta. He was also known to have purchased the home at Faraday Street, North Hobart in 1911 for his parents to live in during their retirement to Hobart. There are many Beach descendants in NZ today. Hubert died on 3rd March 1940 in Ruatorea and is buried in the family cemetery named "Mihimarino" at Tuparoa Ruatorea.
